We're fundraising for MND NSW - Team Tony
We are walking in MND NSW’s Walk to d’Feet MND in honor of my Dad/Tony - to raise awareness and funds for MND NSW, supporting Australian’s living with MND.
MND is a devastating irreversible illness. This relentless disease involves the progressive destruction of motor neurons that control all movement; movement of our body, our ability to speak, swallow, and breathe. I wish for more awareness, more money, more research and expanded care for individuals and families on this difficult journey. This walk with MND NSW, helps us get together to contribute a little to that.
My Dad/Tony lost his battle with MND (ALS) in February 2021, just 15 months after his diagnosis. He was a strong, hardworking and generous man who loved nature, travel, home and mostly the company of his family.
Dad declined quickly, he lost his ability to walk within months and MND soon took all of the things he loved doing for and with his family, but Dad fought hard. Despite the struggles, he made substantial contributions to research by participating in (placebo controlled) clinical trials and attending many long trial clinic days. We are very proud of his selfless commitment to research during a very difficult time.
MND NSW does incredible work, their coordination and support for people with MND and their families is amazing, but people with MND need more. The care for someone living with MND is multifaceted, complex and extensive. I know just how important every resource, every piece of equipment and every contact is to care for a loved one with MND in the best possible way. Accessing all of those resources is not easy and not always possible.
This is a great cause and a great means of awareness for this wonderful organisation.
Get involved if you can, please help spread and maintain awareness for this illness in hope for future research funding and to raise funds for MND NSW who are supporting our fellow Australians on this hard road.
Thanks for your support, Meg ❤️
